1 Corinthians Summary Lesson - WW

The Corinthians were a seriously messed up Church! Their corporate life seemed to be characterised by carnality, competitiveness and so called "cleverness". (sounds like us, too, doesn't it!)

But Paul loved them deeply. Paul still believed in them. He took time to write.  In 1 & 2 Corinthians are perhaps his lengthiest letters to any Church. In his letters he dealt with and addressed every question with patience and thoroughness.  He explained, he challenged, he poured out his heart, he rebuked, he exhorted ...

HE NEVER GAVE UP ON THEM!

As we concluded our survey of 1 Corinthians and completed the "1 Corinthians at a Glance" chart, this was the lesson that God spoke to my heart. The Church is a place for belief: Belief in the one true God who saved my soul, and also belief in the worth of each individual in my care. "The Church is one generation from extinction" said some wise person once. I must believe in you. It is my response of faith to never give up on you.
